Ethereum currently relies on the Gasper consensus mechanism, which functions based on a slot-and-epoch framework.
Although this system is efficient, it is notorious for its intricacy and a relatively lengthy final approval duration of around 12.8 minutes. This delay can pose a challenge for users seeking quick transaction validations.
Buterin introduces a novel concept termed the “SSF” (Slot-Slot-Finality) mechanism, drawing inspiration from the Tendermint consensus algorithm.
SSF strives to wrap up a block before the subsequent block is generated. This strategy is tailored to hasten confirmation times by facilitating swift transaction verifications for users.
