US President Donald Trump announced in his live speech that a 10% base tariff will be applied to all countries.
However, Trump made the following statements on the subject and published a list of countries where he would specifically impose different customs duties:
I am telling the leaders of all countries to end the tariffs you are imposing on (the United States) and start buying American goods.
For countries that do not treat us well, we will calculate the total amount including non-monetary barriers. The retaliation rate will be half of the customs duty rates, which will not be exactly equal.
The European Union will impose a 20% retaliatory tariff on each country.
Goods imported from Japan will be subject to a 24% customs duty.
When the details of the customs duties, which were initially perceived as 10% and considered to be low, were revealed, there was a sudden drop in the price of Bitcoin.
