Ethena (ENA) has announced a significant update to its tokenomics. Effective June 17, the update brings in new requirements for individuals who have acquired ENA altcoin through airdrops.
As per the official blog post of the cryptocurrency project, users who have obtained ENA from the portion linked to the qualifying conditions of the Shard Campaign airdrop, for instance, must now lock at least 50% of the claimable ENA from the received distribution. The locking can be done using one of the three options stated in the initial section of the blog post.
Failure to adhere to these new conditions will lead to the redistribution of all unearned ENA belonging to the user’s wallet. The redistributed tokens will be distributed among users who have locked ENA on i) Ethena locking service, ii) PT-ENA on Pendle (on any chain) or iii) Symbiotic Restaking.

As the ecosystem offers more use cases for ENA, the options for locking $ENA for such purposes may broaden, according to the statement.
The developers of ENA have specified that tokens confiscated from non-compliant users will only be redistributed to users who are in line with the ecosystem:
“None of the ENA lost due to non-compliance with the above conditions will go to the foundation, team, or investors, but will solely benefit users who are in sync with the ecosystem.”
