New Development in BTCTurk Hack: Hacker Targets Another Platform
In a surprising turn of events, it has been revealed that the hacker responsible for the theft of an undisclosed amount of cryptocurrency from the Turkish exchange BTCTurk has launched an attack on another platform.
According to cryptocurrency investigator ZachXBT, the hacker targeted a cryptocurrency platform called Sportsbet and managed to steal over $2.9 million in assets from there. This means that the stolen assets from both hacking incidents have now been combined.
BTCTurk had previously reassured its users that its financial resources were more than sufficient to cover the affected amounts. However, this latest attack coincided with a significant 10% drop in the value of the Avalanche (AVAX) token.
ZachXBT further reported that around 1.96 million AVAX tokens, equivalent to $54.2 million, were transferred to various exchanges, including Coinbase, Binance, Gate, and THORChain.
