Security Company Warns of Phishing Attacks on Popular Altcoin: Increased Risk of Price Decline
SlowMist, a blockchain security expert, has issued a warning about the growing number of phishing attacks targeting the ecosystem of The Open Network (TON), a Telegram-connected blockchain platform. As the TON ecosystem, which includes various decentralized applications and TON blockchain-based tokens, experiences rapid growth in 2024, it has become a prime target for phishing attacks.
In a statement on his X account, the founder of Slowmist stated, “Phishing incidents in the TON ecosystem are on the rise. The Telegram ecosystem is highly vulnerable. Phishing links (or bot forms) are being shared through message groups, airdrops, and other deceptive methods to steal assets, including NFTs. Many people are using Anonymous Telegram Numbers, which resemble mobile phone numbers, to create Telegram accounts. If these numbers are stolen, or if two-step verification is not enabled, the relevant Telegram account can also be compromised. The phishing attack methods are essentially the same, so it is important to exercise caution.”
Experts have warned that if the TON network does not take action to prevent these attacks, it could pose a risk to the price of Toncoin (TON) and lead to further declines. In the last 24 hours, TON has already decreased by 6.1% and is currently trading at $7.14.
To protect yourself from phishing attacks in the TON ecosystem, it is crucial to be vigilant and avoid clicking on suspicious links. SlowMist has provided the following links for more information:
