Blast, an Ethereum Layer 2 network, has announced the establishment of a foundation to oversee its protocol.
This announcement comes just two days before the protocol’s highly anticipated token airdrop, which is scheduled to occur later this week.
Previously, the account and website were managed by Arcade Research, a company dedicated to the development of Blast. However, in an effort to transition to a decentralized management structure, the control of the Twitter account, website, and Blast protocol has been transferred to the newly established foundation.
According to a post, the foundation’s creation aims to support the community in achieving the Blast Vision, which will be publicly shared on June 26.

While the exact breakdown of Blast tokens into different categories remains unclear, a recent breakdown published on X suggests that there could be as many as four to five categories, depending on the division of tokens among different wallet addresses.
The post also speculates that Blur farmers may be among the recipients of the tokens.
The project has revealed that “50% of the Blast Airdrop is designated for Blast Points,” and users will automatically earn points for each block based on their wallet balance. Furthermore, Blast Gold aims to stimulate additional growth for decentralized applications (dapps). “This means Dapps must give 100% of the Gold they earn to their users,” the project stated.
