Carole House, an influential official who helped draft Biden’s 2022 executive order on cryptocurrencies and digital assets, has returned to the administration as a special advisor to the White House’s National Security Council. House’s focus will be on critical infrastructure policy and cybersecurity.
In a statement on LinkedIn, House expressed his commitment to the position, stating that he is honored to be called back to serve on critical mission groups that will shape the future of safe and secure digital economies. This return comes as President Biden aims to strengthen his position in the crypto sector, particularly in response to Trump’s support for the digital assets industry. The specifics of House’s new role have not been disclosed by either House or the White House.
Prior to rejoining the White House, House worked as a “guest executive” at Terranet Ventures, a cryptocurrency-focused venture firm. He also has an extensive career that includes positions at the U.S. Commodity and Futures Trading Commission and previous roles at the National Security Council.
Dave Grimaldi, a vice president at the Blockchain Association, praised House’s pragmatic approach, stating that his expertise will benefit the Biden team. At the 2024 Consensus industry conference, House highlighted the international adoption of cryptocurrencies for various economic purposes, while also emphasizing the need for more sanctions in the sector.
