Coinbase Futures has submitted an application to the CFTC for authorization to introduce regulated futures contracts for SHIB, LINK, AVAX, XLM, and DOT.
Previously, Coinbase had offered futures trading options for Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Dogecoin.
Bitcoin and Litecoin futures commenced trading on April 1st, followed by the introduction of Dogecoin futures later that same month. Typically, Coinbase facilitates futures trading solely through its international platform, Coinbase International.
However, the company is currently endeavoring to extend these futures offerings within the United States. Given that the CFTC holds jurisdiction over commodities that are not classified as securities in the U.S., the submission made by Coinbase assumes significance for the future prospects of these assets.
