Cardano Founder Charles Hoskinson recently announced that significant changes are on the horizon for the ADA ecosystem. According to him, the platform is gearing up for the upcoming Chang fork, which he describes as the most crucial turning point in its history, marking the beginning of the “Age of Voltaire.”
In a social media post on June 9, Hoskinson revealed that Cardano Node is set to reach version 9.0 in June, signaling readiness for the Chang fork with 70 percent of SPOs prepared for the new node. This milestone could lead to a hard fork, propelling Cardano into the Age of Voltaire.
The Chang upgrade is seen as a major step forward for Cardano, providing the necessary tools and infrastructure for the Age of Voltaire. This era will enable network participants to propose improvements for Cardano, subject to a vote by stakers, who will benefit from the staking and delegation process. Additionally, a treasury system will be established to finance future network development, with a portion of transaction fees allocated for agreed-upon development efforts.
Once these voting and treasury systems are operational, Cardano is expected to achieve full decentralization, no longer under the management of IOHK. Hoskinson emphasized the significance of this milestone, stating that Cardano will become a decentralized civilization with advanced blockchain management systems, annual budgets, and the support of the community.
This development marks a crucial moment in Cardano’s history and the industry as a whole, paving the way for a decentralized network with global reach. Hoskinson expressed confidence in the future of Cardano, highlighting the wisdom and support of the community as key factors in its success.
