Former PayPal CEO Peter Thiel has addressed rumors about his Bitcoin holdings, confirming he still possesses BTC but expressing caution about its future price trajectory. Speaking with CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Thiel acknowledged retaining some Bitcoin while admitting he did not capitalize on its potential as much as he could have. He tempered expectations regarding Bitcoin’s future price, suggesting skepticism about significant future increases. Thiel’s venture capital firm, Founders Fund, notably invested $100 million in Bitcoin last year when prices were below $30,000, with earlier investments dating back to 2014, yielding substantial profits before the 2022 market downturn. Despite recent reservations, Thiel has historically supported Bitcoin, expressing regret in 2021 for not increasing his BTC investments during the bullish period.
