Title: Insider Sources Discuss Launch Date for Ethereum Spot ETFs
Insider sources have shed some light on the launch date of Ethereum Spot ETFs, although the exact timing remains uncertain. The anticipation among Ethereum ETF candidates, eagerly awaiting approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), is palpable. While the process is in its final stages, the SEC’s approval of 19b-4 proposals from exchanges where ETH funds will be listed has set the wheels in motion.
Issuers have recently made changes to their ETH ETF registration statements in response to the SEC’s proposed regulations. The SEC works closely with issuers on these registration statements, also known as S-1s. Once this process is completed and the SEC allows the filings to go into effect, the ETH ETFs will be ready for trading. These ETFs will be the first of their kind in the US.
The latest round of S-1 revisions was reported to be relatively minor, leading to speculation that the SEC could provide a launch date for the funds at any point. A source familiar with the filings mentioned that issuers do not expect significant additional comments from the SEC.
While the ball is now in the SEC’s court, the timeline for the launch remains unclear. However, insiders reasonably expect it to occur within the next two to three weeks, according to a second source familiar with the ETH ETF filings. Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Eric Balchunas suggested a scenario where the regulator allows S-1s to take effect before the July 4 holiday, drawing a parallel with VanEck’s spot Bitcoin ETF, which received approval seven days before its launch in January.
Despite this prediction, a third source familiar with the applications expressed skepticism about an approval before July 4. As the cryptocurrency community eagerly awaits the SEC’s decision, the final call rests with the regulatory body.
