Solana Developer Unveils Game-Changing Update for SOL Network, Claims “Big News is Here”
Mert Mumtaz, the CEO of Helius, a prominent development platform within the Solana ecosystem, has announced a groundbreaking update that is set to revolutionize the blockchain industry.
In a recent social media post, Mumtaz revealed that the Zero Knowledge (ZK) compression feature has been integrated into Solana, and will be directly implemented on Layer 1 (L1), eliminating the necessity for Layer 2 (L2).
“This changes everything you thought you knew about scaling Solana and L1s,” Mumtaz declared. He emphasized that this new feature allows for on-chain data compression, resulting in a remarkable 10,000x improvement in scalability.
The introduction of ZK compression is expected to significantly enhance Solana’s network scalability, enabling developers to build and scale applications directly on Solana without the need to rely on external chains.
Mümtaz also highlighted the substantial cost reductions associated with this update. For instance, he showcased the cost of airdropping to 1 million users, which previously amounted to over $260,000. With the integration of ZK compression, this cost has been reduced to just $50, representing an astounding 5,200-fold reduction.
“Big news has arrived,” Mumtaz proclaimed, indicating a new era for Solana and the broader blockchain industry.
