Former US President Donald Trump, who was known for his opposition to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies during his previous term, has made a significant shift. In his latest election campaign, Trump has openly expressed his support for BTC and cryptocurrencies, marking a historic move.
Recently, Trump met with a group of Bitcoin miners and assured them of his backing for Bitcoin mining. He criticized his opponent, Joe Biden, and his administration for their stance against Bitcoin mining, claiming that it benefited rival nations. Trump pledged to support Bitcoin miners and the mining industry if he were to return to the White House.
Among the participants in Trump’s meeting with Bitcoin miners were representatives from Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin mining company CleanSpark Inc. and Riot Platforms. CleanSpark co-founder S. Matthew Schultz mentioned encountering a strong Bitcoin advocate who endorsed their operations in Georgia, Mississippi, and Wyoming.
On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump emphasized the importance of Bitcoin mining, positioning it as a crucial defense against Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC). He criticized Biden’s anti-Bitcoin stance, claiming it favored China, Russia, and the Radical Communist Left. Trump called for the production of all remaining Bitcoins to be based in the USA to enhance national energy independence.
