Howard Lutnick, the head of Cantor Fitzgerald, a firm managing $13.2 billion, recently made significant comments regarding Bitcoin (BTC) and former President Donald Trump. During a podcast interview with Anthony Pompliano, Lutnick revealed that he possesses a substantial Bitcoin portfolio worth millions.
He reiterated his belief that Bitcoin should be categorized as a commodity rather than a currency. Lutnick emphasized that they view market downturns as opportunities to purchase more BTC, stating he currently holds hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin. He expressed confidence that the price of Bitcoin will continue to appreciate, projecting that his holdings could soar to billions in value within the next year.
“As I’ve mentioned previously, Bitcoin is not currency; it’s a commodity comparable to gold or oil. Its limited supply and the nature of its mining provide enduring value and significant growth potential,” he said. Lutnick also noted that the growing acceptance of Bitcoin among institutional investors will contribute to further price increases.
In addition to his cryptocurrency interests, Lutnick is recognized for being the largest financial supporter of Donald Trump, describing him as the best option for affluent Americans. He highlighted Trump’s favorable policies towards the American workforce and economic growth, as well as his advocacy for cryptocurrency and tariff implementation.
Fox Business correspondent Eleanor Terrett reported on X that the cryptocurrency sector has contributed over $200 million to political action committees, candidates, and organizations. Among the leading contributors to Trump are Lutnick, who donated $6.4 million, the Winklevoss twins from Gemini with $2.04 million, and Jesse Powell, founder of Kraken, who contributed $844,943.
