Billionaire Michael Dell Shows Interest in Bitcoin Following Michael Saylor’s Lead
Another billionaire has hinted at his potential interest in Bitcoin, and it’s a name that everyone is familiar with. Michael Dell, the CEO of Dell Technologies, with a market capitalization exceeding $100 billion, recently engaged in social media exchanges that suggested his interest in the cryptocurrency.
The conversation began with Dell posting a cryptic message on social media about the value of rarity, to which Bitcoin advocate Michael Saylor responded with a comment about Bitcoin being a digital rarity. Dell then retweeted Saylor’s Bitcoin-friendly post, indicating a possible interest in the cryptocurrency.
This exchange didn’t stop there. Dell later shared an altered image of Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster consuming Bitcoin instead of cookies, adding a humorous twist to the serious cryptocurrency debate.
Saylor, who has led MicroStrategy to purchase 226,331 Bitcoins worth $15 billion over the past four years, recently made another significant purchase of 11,900 BTC. He has been a vocal proponent of companies including Bitcoin on their balance sheets, but so far, few have followed his lead as successfully as MicroStrategy.
Although Dell had $34.6 billion in current assets on its balance sheet as of May 3, with $5.8 billion in cash and cash equivalents, there has been no mention of Bitcoin in their financial filings.
It remains to be seen whether Dell will follow Saylor’s lead and incorporate Bitcoin into the company’s treasury strategy. But for now, it’s clear that another billionaire is showing a potential interest in the world of cryptocurrency.
